Crossfit - How does it work?
For the workout of the day (WOD), which is published each day on the offical CrossFit website, the sport combines various of the above mentioned elements. You either repeat a fixed number of sport exercises or you do exercises within a limited amount of time as often you can. In CrossFit studios you train in small groups under instructions of a coach who develops each training session individually. As CrossFit workouts are very demanding, you only should do the sport under professional supervision, with a coach adjusting the fitness level. Besides that, there are also standardized training sessions, which are published on the CrossFit website.
The training sessions last 1 hour and consist of
- Warm ups
- Skill training
- High intensity training and
- Stretching
To reduce the risk of injury it is important to implement each exercise controlled. The right technique is of course fundamental.
As the exercises are very challenging it is important to give the body enough time to regenerate. After each training session you should take a break for at least one day.
