Little ABC for your spa-break questions ...
In their treatment discriptions, wellness hotels often use technical terms, which are hard to understand for potential guests. We have therefore collected and defined the most relevant terms in our small wellness ABC. A tip: Our wellness dictionary also supports word requests. You don't need to know the exact wording.

Medical Wellness Definition
Which medical approach does medical (healing) Wellness follow?
Medical Wellness in the sense of preventive medicine means first of all to analyse the individual risk factors more precisely than is usual and possible in the everyday practice of a doctor. From this, well-founded instructions for a healthy, holistically oriented lifestyle can then be developed. Medical Wellness thus builds a bridge between subjective well-being, prevention and medically-assisted health.
What distinguishes classical medicine from medical (healing) wellness?
In classical curative medicine, the focus is on curing diseases or treating symptoms (pathogenesis). In medical spas, on the other hand, the main focus is on promoting personal responsibility and health (salutogenesis). Medical wellness is intended to prevent illness with measures of behavioural medicine and to keep wellness and health holidaymakers healthy. This approach, which is new to the German health system, is to be provided by service-oriented, motivating and appropriately qualified staff from the medical sector.
Medical (healing) Wellness - personal responsibility is always in the foreground
However, medical wellness can only ever be understood as a sub-area within a comprehensive wellness movement, such as that launched by American doctors at the time. They coined the well-known definition, which puts the personal responsibility for health in the foreground and which is valid today more than ever before: "Wellness is an active effort for one's own health with the aim of permanently establishing a balance of body, mind and soul, a balanced state of well-being and good health".
