Wellness dictionary

Little ABC for your spa-break questions ...

In their treatment discriptions, wellness hotels often use technical terms, which are hard to understand for potential guests. We have therefore collected and defined the most relevant terms in our small wellness ABC. A tip: Our wellness dictionary also supports word requests. You don't need to know the exact wording.

Pantai Luar

What is a Pantai Luar Massage (TM)?

Pantai Luar is a hot spice-fruit stamp massage, which originally comes from the East Asian region. Translated from Indonesian it means "on new shores" and represents a special massage technique with a thermophysical component.

How is a Pantai Luar massage structured?

First, the moisturised skin of the whole body is rubbed with aromatic, preheated oils. After a short period of application, a cloth filled with herbs, the so-called herbal stamp, is then drawn over the skin with very rapid movements. The special feature of this is that it is dipped into a special oil at 120 degrees Celsius before touching the body. By massaging the stamp on the skin, the feeling of a skin burn is conveyed, but this never happens.

After the stamp has been turned and weighed on the skin with fast, flowing movements and light contact pressure, a deep heat treatment follows by applying more intensive pressure. In this way, cramped muscles are loosened, tension is relieved and harmful substances are excreted. The immune system is strengthened and the herbs also have an effect on the psychological well-being.

Duration: between 60 and 90 minutes. After the treatment, the body is covered with an absorbent fleece cloth which absorbs the remaining oils. This is followed by a rest period of about 30 minutes, during which the body can relax completely. Because of a possible risk of burns, masseurs who practice Pantai Luar should be well trained.
